Good-bye, Bridget. September 1, 2009

I think Buddy told you about his friends Bridget, Jordan and Gem. They are Cocker Spaniels, and for awhile I (and my “sister” Ava) was living with them before I came to live with Buddy and Mom. Well, two days before Buddy crossed the Rainbow Bridge, her mom and my mom took Bridget to the vet’s because Bridget was in so much pain– worser even than the pain Buddy was in so it was a lot of pain. Bridget’s mom said Bridget deserved to die with grace and dignity, and so she did, in her mom’s arms, just as she was the day she came into this world.

Mom said to put in one of her favorite memories of Bridget: the day she stole a head of red cabbage out of the grocery bag!
Red cabbage-- and Brussel Sprouts-- didn't stand a chance around Bridget!!

  1. We are sorry Bridget had to go to the bridge. We just know her and Buddy are playing together pain free and happy. That was funny about the cabbage. That is a good memory for her Mom to have.

The Mom’s had to be careful with the refrigerator door too: they had to look before closing it to make sure Bridget wasn’t helping herself to the carrots or the Brussel Sprouts too!

Oh, that is so sad. But they are together now, playing at the Bridge. My mom loves red cabbage. She would have done the same thing as Bridget. We send you all hugs and to Bridget’s family too.

    love & wags,
    River & mom

  3. We have been off the puter for some time, but wanted to send our condolences for Buddy. They leave their footprints on our heart and take a piece of it with them. Also, your friend did the most wonderful thing you can do for your companion. I have always held my kids when the time has come so they knew I was trying to be faithful to them as they had been so faithful to me. It is hard having that soul leave as you hold your wonderful friend, but I believe we owe that much to them. Please tell your friend she SO did the right thing and I am sorry for her loss.
May both run free at the bridge and someday, we’ll get those pieces of our hearts back when they come running to greeat us.(I just hope I survive the stanpede! lol)
God Bless you and your friend

Thanks for logging in with those great words “they leave their footprints on our heart”… that is so true. I’ll make sure Bridget’s mom hears them too.
