Good visits… August 4, 2008

Filed under: therapy dog — Lily @ 10:02 pm

I’ve had some good visits these last few days but today, I met a lady who will stick in my memory for awhile.  She’s a stroke victim and she’s in a rehab facility.  The staff has been working with her daily, just trying to get her to do the littlest things, like move her leg or her arm on the side affected by the stroke.  I was visiting someone else in the rehab room, right next to her, getting an excellent ear rub, when suddenly I felt someone trying to pet my back.  My mom whispered to me not to move so I stood very still as this lady slowly pulled her bad hand along my back with her good hand.  She was petting me tail to shoulder instead of shoulder to tail but I didn’t care!  I was getting a fantastic ear rub AND a wonderful back rub at the same time!  I was in therapy dog heaven!

I hope when I go back there in a couple of weeks, my mom and I find out this lady got well enough to go home.  🙂
